Sears Ranches currently seed mostly barley on just over 20,000 acres, which is processed into silage for all four feedlots.  Seeding starts in early April, weather permitting, and usually concludes by mid June.  The harvesting can occur from July to September based on moisture conditions for the season.  Grain for the feedlots is contracted from outside sources.

Sears Ranches is a modern progressive agricultural operation dedicated to the future viability of the land.  We use no till direct seeding methods.

The farming division is run by a general manager, one assistance manager and 4 – 6 permanent part-time employees.  During the harvest the farming division will also employ another 4-6 seasonal workers.
